Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge : Merritt Island National wildlife Refuge is located between in Titusville, Florida, and abuts the Cape. A gazillion migratory birds stop there in the winter, and resident birds are easy to see in the summer. There is a wildlife viewing drive that runs through the marshes, and gives close-up access for viewing and photographing the creatures there. http://www.nbbd.com/godo/minwr/BlackPoint/index.html At Thanksgiving, I visited the wildlife refuge on a cold gray day. All the birds were hunkered down against the cold and wind, and photo ops were restricted by the dull light. Can't wait to go back in better weather.
